The Transfer Window
A slow shift out of the fog - A New Year and a New Moon in the same week, Eclipse season ends and Mercury stations direct
Hi Friend,
We have a New Moon, a New Year, Spring equinox, official end of eclipse season and the end of Mercury retrograde all happening in the same week…
There’s a particular feeling to this moment in time that’s hard to name, we’re edging between two worlds, between the old and new. The structures that once felt fixed are showing their seams. Things we relied on for orientation—socially, culturally, even internally—are shifting, not all at once, but steadily enough that you can’t quite ignore it anymore. It can feel disorienting, yes, but there’s also something quietly sobering, raw and honest about it. When the surface starts to crack, we’re given a clearer view of what was holding everything together in the first place.
What I keep coming back to is: change isn’t just disruption, it’s reallocation. As we know, energy doesn’t disappear—it reshapes, it finds new form. So in that sense, we’re not just living through an ending, we’re participating in a transfer—or a ‘transfer window’ if you like. Something is being dismantled, whilst something else—less defined, but no less real—is asking to be built with more intention and awareness.
There is light through this retrograde tunnel!
I’m back from my break in New York and what a time it was.
I’ll share more on where I went and what stood out in a separate post, because there’s a lot to say. But for now, it feels more relevant to stay with the timing of things—there’s a lot of major astrology happening this week, most excitingly…
…IT’S FINALLY THE NEW YEAR!
If you’re new here, we don’t celebrate the new year astrologically on 01/01—this is the Gregorian timing of a new year. Aries season begins the zodiacal cycle again, and with it comes a distinct sense of initiation. It’s less about declaring resolutions and more about recognising where life is already asking you to begin again.
We have the start of a New Year on the day Mercury ends its retrograde and is conjunct the North Node (destiny point) in Pisces—aka, karmic messages are being delivered this week. It’s so important to sit back and observe how this new year is going to start for you with a transit like this. Let things show themselves before you decide what they mean.
There’s also a feeling here of something reaching its natural conclusion—something has run its course in your life. It’s the end of the road on your current chapter as we approach Aries season, the beginning of something new and fresh. I for one have been waiting for this day for what feels like forever! With Aries season, Spring officially kicks off and nature blooms. I’d say you’ll see similarities in your life with new energy and new opportunities kicking in, but as we’re still slowly coming out of Mercury retrograde, all the ‘newness’ may just take a little longer to reveal itself—but the fog is lifting and that’s good news!
I’m going to write in chronological order as we have some important transits happening through this week.

New Moon in Pisces: 19th March, 1:23am GMT
More good news: you can finally manifest again!
With eclipse season officially closing out with this New Moon, it does reopen the door to intention-setting, manifestation, all of it.
***HOWEVER***
Before you jump straight back in, there’s something worth understanding about this particular lunation—this New Moon isn’t like other New Moons. It’s not the best for calling in something new and setting intentions towards new goals.
Whenever we talk about Pisces, we talk about the ending of things, the conclusion, the wisdom gained through the journey of the zodiac. Pisces is the final sign, so it’s less concerned with what’s next and more concerned with what’s been. This New Moon is like a reflective checkpoint. It’s asking you to look back at the year so far but also of the version of you that’s been moving through it. What’s shifted? What have you quietly outgrown? What doesn’t quite fit in the same way anymore, even if you haven’t fully let it go yet?
Pisces is reflective, but not in a harsh or analytical way like Aquarius or Virgo can be—more like sitting with the truth of something until it speaks for itself.
And that’s why this New Moon is not one I’m manifesting with, my personal practice is still paused. I’d rather use this space to clear, to process, to let things settle into their natural ending point. But your choices are your own, so feel free to practice differently if you feel called to. Just know this energy might work better if you focus less on forcing something new in, and more on making space for it properly. Because that’s really what this New Moon is about—not rushing the next chapter, but making sure you’ve actually closed the last one—the transfer window.
Another reason why I’m not manifesting on this New Moon, is that this will be the first New Moon in Pisces without Neptune in 14 years!!! Also, without the presence of Saturn in years! A New Moon in Pisces without outer planetary influence is something we haven’t seen for a while, so it’ll be interesting to see how this energy expresses itself. Although, you likely have felt the weight lift in your Pisces house now that Saturn has moved into Aries—particularly if you’re a Pisces, Gemini, Virgo or Sagittarius.
This New Moon is also forming a sextile with Uranus in Taurus—a supportive aspect that can bring a plot twist or unexpected news. It can show up as a change in routine, a breakthrough in something you’ve been working on, or a sudden moment of clarity around something that’s been keeping you stuck. There’s potential here to initiate a new path, shift direction, or finally break away from what’s been stagnant.
Let’s talk about the degree this New Moon occurs at—28° Pisces. This is important for a couple of reasons:
28° sits right at the end of a sign, which means we’re at a point of culmination—the closing chapter of whichever area Pisces occupies in your chart.
It’s also the exact degree where the recent solar eclipse took place. We’ve had multiple New Moons at 28° since October last year, so from the end of October up until now, you may start to recognise a consistent theme or storyline in your life that’s reaching its natural conclusion with this New Moon.
Aries Season / Spring Equinox / Astrological New Year: 20th March, 2:47pm GMT
HAPPY NEW YEAR AND SPRING EQUINOX!
Congratulations for making it through a very tough year astrologically, spiritually, emotionally. March 2025 - March 2026 has not been easy, so take the win where you can!
We’re stepping into a new season—from water energy that’s been drowning us, to fire energy that’s about to fuel us again. This marks the Spring Equinox, but also the start of the astrological new year. It’s a threshold moment—the transfer window. Not everything has snapped into place yet, not everything is going to make sense yet, but the direction is becoming clearer. There’s less sitting with things, and more responding to them.
The Sun moves out of Pisces and into Aries, and you should feel the difference. Pisces asks us to reflect, to process, to dissolve. Aries does the opposite—it initiates. It brings things back to action and movement, to doing something with everything you’ve just been through. With that, something changes in how we relate to our own energy. You should start noticing the shift from the inward focus of the past few weeks to a gradual return to action.
Wherever Aries sits in your chart is the area of life where momentum is going to start to build, and where you may feel the urge to re-engage after a period of stepping back or taking a passive approach.
Mercury Direct: 20th March, 7:32pm GMT
I never thought I’d see the day, but we’ve finally made it to the end(ish) of Mercury retrograde.
I say ish, because although Mercury is moving direct again, it still has to retrace its steps through the same part of the sky it’s already moved through—we call this the shadow phase. Mercury retrograde officially ends on 9th April.
Look back to 11th February, as conversations or plans you had then may resurface now during Mercury’s station
There’s no doubt in my mind that this Mercury retrograde affected you. I mentioned in my previous article that, this is the roughest Mercury retrograde we’ve had in a long time. Part of that is because Mercury struggles in Pisces—it’s not operating with its usual clarity or precision—on top of that, we’ve been in the thick of eclipse season!
Even though Mercury is stationing direct—meaning it’s beginning to move forward again—it does so very slowly. When a planet stations, its energy is almost suspended. So don’t expect everything to suddenly click back into place. If anything, this is where things can still feel a bit off—last-minute changes, crossed wires, miscommunication. It’s going to feel a little hazy before clarity returns.
If you have any planets around 8°, you’re going to feel this more strongly. If your rising sign is ruled by Mercury—so Gemini or Virgo rising—you may notice this slowdown more personally.
I mentioned earlier that the North Node (destiny point) will be conjunct Mercury in Pisces—this is significant. Pay attention to your dreams, your thoughts, the things that seem to come out of nowhere this week. Write them down if you can. They might not make complete sense yet, but they could be pointing you toward something important. Mercury aligning with the Nodes tends to coincide with fated shifts in direction.
What a week right?!
We’ve been swimming through so much Pisces energy recently, making us feel heavy and exhausted—like you’re functioning, but not quite at full capacity. I wouldn’t be surprised if your sleep’s been off or your sense of time has felt a bit warped. In a daze!
The passive-aggressiveness and anxiety has been draining, I’m so looking forward to the no-bullshit attitude of Aries. Finally, we have forward movement. Less second-guessing, less ambiguity and more direct honesty.
Things are starting to move again.
I know it’s been a heavy period—this isn’t just about the past few weeks, it’s an accumulation of the past year. But this moment does feel like a release point. Like you can finally start putting some of that weight down and breathe a sigh of relief.
So let yourself do that.
Sit in this in-between space—the transfer window—and start opening yourself up to what’s next. New beginnings, change, movement, action… it’s all starting to come through piece by piece.

Very much feeling into the in-between space ✨
You are so right about the disturbed sleep! Though funnily enough, this entire retrograde has made me feel so sleepy despite the insomnia acting up. I hope we move through the shadow quietly!
