Breaking down the astrology of 2025

2025 astrology is all about (chaotic) change. On a personal level, that’s not necessarily a bad thing, especially if some of you have been feeling like life has become stagnant or too routine for you. 2025 is coming in with a bang to shake your life up.

In this article I’m going to be summarising major themes or transits - more like an overview. I really should be publishing this in March. For those who have subscribed to this weekly newsletter already, you’ll know why (but if you don’t, here’s the important context).

Let me start by saying this: 2025 is a call to action.

This is a Mars-ruled year. Mars is action, speed, risk-taking, volatility, cutting, fire, knives, drive, ambition, confrontation. As a collective, I think 2025 will bring a lot of unexpected violence or tragic events—look how the year already started; Tesla cars exploding (Mars), New Orleans violence (Mars), the New York club shooting (Mars). Unfortunately, I wouldn’t be surprised to see this continue in the year, but I believe this will not only be fire-related, it will be water-based disasters, particularly water-based natural disasters. You’ll want to be careful with any water activities, boats, surfing, etc. I’d also recommend buying a water filter system or filter jug.

***And I’m editing in this update now to include the LA wildfires which are representative of the Mars square Pluto transit - Mars was in Leo when this began (fire sign) squaring (tense aspect) Pluto in Aquarius (air sign/winds). The energy will continue to be intense over this week.***

I recently wrote about Pluto in Aquarius and what that will look like moving forward, and I suggest reading that alongside this article because the context for the major shifts happening will be important to understand as we move further into 2025. To my current subscribers—you’ll know that I’ve been speaking of revolution. Pluto in Aquarius fuels much of the Mars-ruled astrology this year, they work hand-in-hand to force change because the people are tired! This year (and over the next 20 years) we will see another Revolution as we go through economic and societal shifts. For my POC community, this is particularly relevant as our communities will start coming together and living much more community-based rather than relying on government resources.

I don’t want to fear-monger, I just want to inform you that if there was ever a year to expect the unexpected, this is it. You don’t need to panic, shifts like these happen over time, and I have explained that in the Pluto Aquarius article.

So why is this year the big year of change?

The reason why this year is so notable is because all of the outer planets will be changing signs. This is a HUGE deal. Outer planets—meaning planets like Jupiter, Saturn, Pluto, Uranus and Neptune—don’t change signs often. It’s usually decades before they do, which means they affect us more heavily as a generation rather than on an individual level. With ALL of the outer planets changing signs in one year…this is the year everything changes. This points to new beginnings in all aspects of your life but particularly the Aries section of your chart—if you know where that is. If you don’t, feel free to comment your rising sign and I’ll help you out. You’ll also want to look at the Scorpio area of your chart, as Mars rules Scorpio and there will be significant Martian energy this year. These areas in particular, especially Aries, will be going through major transformation in 2025.

Endings and beginnings

2025 in numerology is a 9 year which is all about endings and rebirth. In Chinese astrology, 2025 is the year of the snake, think of the symbolism—shedding your skin. This is the last year of this version of you before you step into a more authentic you. Clear the space to make room for the new. By the end of this year, your life will not look the same at all. Ask yourself:

Are you ready to distance yourself from your old timeline?

Are you focused on the ending or the beginning that the ending offers?

Think of 2025 as a new slate because the Universe will be moving you through this process of death & rebirth—endings for new beginnings. The ending must be confronted before you get your shiny new beginning. In addition to the outer planets changing signs this year, ALL of the inner planets—Mercury, Venus, Mars—are retrograding AND some of these will be overlapping. Which means, we will be faced with situations from the past, people from the past, to review and assess for the final time before moving ahead and starting new. 2024 is how things were, leave it there and respect it for what it was. How do you want to start 2025?

Moving through and out of stagnation

There’s opportunity for massive change but it requires you to put the action behind your desires. You’ve done enough researching, grounding, healing, preparing. You’re ready now. So: go, leave, step up, move, confront. Do whatever you need to do to put yourself in a position to live the life you want. I think keeping this in mind will be beneficial this year.

As much as change is offered in 2025, change can also come with its own challenges. It will very important to invest in your mental health this year, self-care will help you through this transition phase. Try not to control the output too much—easier said than done I know—but sometimes its okay to surrender and let the Universe take the wheel.

Do the prep work now to step into your new beginning in 2026.

Whether you’re ready or not, this year will require you to be brave and have courage. This is a year of movement, of transition. The dream you have been dreaming of needs to be tethered. Ground your ideas and figure out how to act on them.

Speaking of dreams, I do believe that the collective will become more spiritual in 2025. I think people are going to need something to turn to, something new to believe in, as old systems and old ways of living change. I think we could see the deaths of many prominent figures—CEOs, leaders, and celebrities (as well as the death or rebirth of celebrity culture and what it means to be a ‘celebrity’). The masses will *discover* subjects that some of us have been shouting about for years i.e. astrology, numerology, holistic health, herbal medicine, frequencies, energy, telepathy, psychic abilities etc. I think these topics will be covered more within the media. All in all, people will be changing their beliefs in 2025, whether that’s believing in spirituality, religion, etc. or losing their faith.

A message that I felt called to share with my POC subscribers whilst writing this article:

Own your craft and culture and stand on it. Stop letting others disrespect the knowledge, culture or traditions you own. Time to step into the limelight and stop observing from the shadows. If there is something you have been wanting to initiate, a new business, a new career, a new course of study, 2025 is the year!
