Hi Judith, thanks for your comment! Basing it on whole sign is easiest but that's just one system of many ways of reading a chart. When you read a horoscope, you should always read for your rising sign/ascendant sign no matter what season we are in - the astrologer writing them will use the perspective of your rising to generalise your transits for that season. For example, if you are an Aries Rising, I'd advise you to start reading horoscopes for Aries (no matter what season we are in, i.e. Taurus season currently). You'll notice that this is more aligned than reading for your sun sign. No matter which house system you use, the degree of your ascendant doesn't change.
