Shedding An Old Identity: Eclipse Season Begins Again
The Lunar Eclipse in Virgo: Endings, Realignments, and Revelations
We’re slowly but surely getting through the insanity that is March (a reminder of the 2025 astrology article here). Just to recap how crazy this month is astrologically:
We just moved out of Mars retrograde in Cancer as we entered this month.
Venus entered its retrograde on 2nd March.
Mercury moved into Aries on 3rd March.
Mercury and Venus (retrograde) conjunct in Aries on 11th March (discussed in my previous article).
Sun and Saturn conjunct in Pisces on 12th March.
Lunar Eclipse in Virgo on 14th March.
Mercury stations retrograde on 15th March.
Sun/Neptune Cazimi in Pisces on 19th March (I touched on Cazimi here).
Astrological New Year on 20th March.
Sun/Venus Cazimi in Aries on 22nd March.
Sun/Mercury Cazimi in Aries on 24th March.
Venus (retrograde) conjunct Neptune in Pisces on 27th March.
Solar Eclipse in Aries on 29th March (final eclipse on this axis).
Neptune changes sign (a rare event) and moves into Aries on 30th March.
Yeaaaaaah.
For those new to astrology—no, this doesn’t happen every month. This is exactly why astrologers have been calling March the game changer of 2025—and look at all that activity between Pisces and Aries—between endings (Pisces) and beginnings (Aries).
March is a year of astrology in itself. And I’ll be honest, it’s going to get spicy—particularly in the USA. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve likely seen how the current administration has been behaving, and…unfortunately it’s going to get crazier, if that’s even fathomable. For those in the States feeling helpless and scared, my heart goes out to you—I lived there when he was first elected, and that was terrifying even then. I can’t imagine what it’s like now, especially for POC.
This isn’t me fear-mongering just to be clear. I think a problem in this field is that most spiritualists like to bury their heads in the sand rather than acknowledge what’s happening. ‘Pretending’ is different from drowning out some of the noise. Both have their benefits I suppose, but only in the short-term, never in the long-term. In my view, it’s more beneficial to be well-informed. I’d rather understand the challenging transits so I have context for the tension I’m feeling. Many accounts gloss over difficult astrology transits, but that feels disingenuous to me. I prefer honesty without exaggeration or fear-mongering for clicks. Astrology isn’t all rainbows and fairy dust—those overly positive takes water down the true complexity and depth of the study by not giving you the full picture. Astrology is the study of time—meaning life as we know it, and life is far from 100% positive every second of the day.

I’ve been writing for a while now, about how I feel like I’m on the edge of change. If you’ve been feeling the same—living in the ‘in-between’ space and now ready to exit your hermit phase, then you’re experiencing the impact of these transits, especially the upcoming eclipse. We’re in a truly unique moment—still fresh from Mars retrograde, regaining our motivation and energy, while also navigating Venus and Mercury retrogrades in the lead-up to an eclipse. This moment in time is about transformation. I half-jokingly texted my friend saying, “I wonder who I’ll be on the other side”—but with the astrology of this month, it’s not really a joke at all…
I’ve already discussed Mercury and Venus retrograde in my previous article but Venus retrograde in particular is key during this eclipse season. If you’re Venus-ruled (a Libra or Taurus) or have any planets in the last 10° of Pisces or first 10° of Aries, you’ll feel this more intensely than others. During her retrograde, Venus ‘disappears’ from the sky as she undergoes a rebirthing process, transforming from an evening star (setting after the Sun) to a morning star (rising before the Sun). This happens roughly 20 days into the retrograde (22nd March this year). After the retrograde, Venus transitions back into an evening star. Many astrologers compare this transformation to Venus descending into the underworld and emerging renewed. A great reference here, is the Sumerian myth Descent of Inanna into the Underworld or ‘Ishtar’ if you’re familiar with the Akkadian version. As Inanna enters the underworld, she must remove her regalia and adornments at each gate of the underworld—a shedding of her worldly identity in order to be rebirthed. This is the role Venus is playing in this upcoming eclipse—helping you shed old versions of yourself and step into something new. You’ll be reassessing everything in your life, asking: Is this still something I want to keep, commit to, or continue?
Similar to last year, this article is part of a bigger eclipse series, so stay tuned for future updates. Now, let’s get into what this Virgo eclipse means for us.
Eclipse season is upon us once again, and this full moon lunar eclipse in Virgo on the 14th March 2025, is set to bring major revelations and closures, catapulting us into new timelines. If you’ve been noticing unexpected shifts starting to take shape, you’re not alone—eclipses are wildcards that realign us with our path and reveal truths we can no longer ignore.
Eclipses are portals, often viewed as cosmic turning points, accelerating events that align with one’s purpose and life path.
Let’s break down what this eclipse means and why it’s significant.
What Are Eclipses & Why Are They Important?
Eclipses occur when the Sun, Moon, and Earth align, either blocking light (solar eclipse) or reflecting it back (lunar eclipse). Solar eclipses occur on new moons and Lunar eclipses occur on full moons—both increasing the intensity of what these moons typically represent because they are directly linked to fate and destiny. Lunar eclipses, like this one in Virgo, bring culminations, endings, and revelations—think of them as the Universe shining a light to highlight or expose something you may not have fully seen before.
Eclipses are fated moments that push us toward growth. They act as course correctors, removing what’s no longer in alignment with our true path and bringing situations to a head so we can make necessary changes. They often reveal missing information, hidden truths, or long-awaited clarity. Don’t be surprised if you suddenly find yourself in a completely new storyline post-eclipse.
Why Is the Lunar Eclipse in Virgo So Significant?
This eclipse falls in Virgo, an earth sign associated with practicality, organisation, health, work, and service. That means the themes at play will likely involve:
Your daily routines & habits (Are they supporting or draining you?)
Health & wellness (Are you ignoring something your body is trying to tell you?)
Work & career (Is it time for a change, pivot, or major shift in how you approach your work?)
Organisation & structure (Where do you need more efficiency or clarity in your life?)
Boundaries & service (Are you overextending yourself? Giving too much to others at the expense of yourself?)
Because Virgo is ruled by Mercury, there may be important messages, realisations, or information revealed that help you make sense of a situation that has felt unclear or confusing.
Virgo also rules over our habits. This could be a time where you find the unexpected strength to quit a bad habit out of nowhere—complete lack of desire. This applies to relationships or connections too—finding that you’re not as attached as you thought you were, finally breaking free from attachments.
Eclipse + Venus retrograde + a Year 9 in numerology = finalities in your life, major endings for new beginnings.
Connections to Past Eclipses & What to Watch Out For
This eclipse series in Virgo/Pisces will take us all the way through to early 2027 because eclipses unfold over two year periods. However, we can look back at past eclipses in Virgo-Pisces, to find clues as to possible recurring themes. Here’s the dates of those past eclipses on the Virgo-Pisces axis: 20th March 2015, 13th September 2015, 9th March 2016, 1st September 2016, 16th September 2016, 26th February 2017 and more recently, 17th September 2024. Look back at what was happening in your life during these dates to find the major theme—was it relocation? Big moments in your career? Promotions? New education pursuits? There will be a similar pattern.
Since Virgo’s opposite sign, Pisces, is also activated, you may feel pulled between logic vs. intuition, control vs. surrender, and practicality vs. creativity. Finding balance between these two energies will be key.
Eclipses come in pairs, so in two weeks we’ll experience a new moon solar eclipse in Aries.
Final Thoughts: How to Navigate This Eclipse
Eclipses are powerful, but they can also feel intense. My best piece of advice during eclipse season is to surrender to change—even if in the moment it feels like things are falling apart. Here’s a list of do’s and don’ts when navigating this eclipse:
DO:
✔ Pay attention to any revelations, gut feelings, or synchronicities.
✔ Release old habits, routines, or beliefs that no longer serve you.
✔ Reflect on what needs to be completed or finalised in your life.
✔ Prioritise your health—both physical and emotional.
✔ Trust that whatever is leaving your life is making space for something better.
DON’T:
✖ Manifest or set intentions—eclipses are for releasing, not creating.
✖ Force decisions—let the Universe reveal what needs to unfold first.
✖ Cling to what is clearly ending—eclipses remove what’s misaligned for a reason.
✖ Overanalyse—Virgo energy loves control, but some things need to flow naturally.
This lunar eclipse in Virgo is here to push you toward alignment, clarity, and necessary endings—even if it feels uncomfortable at first. Pay attention to what unfolds, trust the process, and know that whatever shifts during this time is happening for you, not to you.
Great article! I’ve been living in the ‘in-between’ space for the past two years and definitely ready to exit my hermit phase!
We’ve had some HUGE shifts already this year, and the energy continues to rise! Let’s GO!! 🔥
So does the no manifesting rule mean we shouldn't try until after the solar eclipse in April? Or is it fine to do so in between?
