If you’ve read my 2025 astrology article, you’ll have seen the activity I listed in the March section of the calendar—intense. It’s the Wild West of 2025 where anything can happen. By far the craziest month of the year and honestly, the turning point of where your life could drastically change (remember I said 2025 is the year of change). I would tell you to be prepared but the energy will be too unpredictable thanks to two eclipses, two retrogrades shifting between signs, and three planetary sign changes—including an outer planet (a rare occurrence). And let’s not forget the astrological New Year! I’m kind of nervous, kind of excited, let’s see what unfolds…
We’re going to go through it one step at a time. All of my March articles will be astrology-heavy because there’s going to be a lot coming at us.
But let’s start with the upcoming Pisces New Moon before diving into the first major transit of March: Venus Retrograde.
Pisces New Moon: 28th February 12:45AM GMT
The Pisces New Moon will occur on the 27th or 28th of February, depending on where you are in the world. In the UK, it falls in the early hours of the 28th at 12:45 AM, while in the U.S., it lands on the 27th. This is an important New Moon as it’s the last one before eclipse season begins—more on that in future articles.
New Moons occur when the Sun and Moon align in the sky, causing the Moon’s light to disappear, creating a ‘blank canvas’ for us to plant new seeds and manifest. However, as my subscribers know, I don’t recommend manifesting on the exact day of the New Moon. I prefer to wait until the Moon gains some visibility.
In Pisces, this New Moon is the perfect opportunity to manifest anything creative—new hobbies, interests, projects—you name it. Pisces is a highly imaginative sign, so don’t limit yourself when setting intentions. The New Moon also aspects Jupiter, the planet of abundance. But keep in mind: abundance can manifest as a flood of new creative ideas or an overwhelming wave of overthinking and emotional intensity. Many associate Jupiter with luck, but in reality, it represents expansion—so be intentional about what you want Jupiter to amplify in your life.
With this New Moon occurring at 9º, the next two weeks will feel deeply spiritual—almost erotic—as you dig beneath the surface and see yourself from a new perspective. The number 9 carries Sagittarius energy: truth-seeking, knowledge-driven, and expansive. During this period, you may feel the urge to pivot, letting go of what no longer aligns with you and allowing your authentic self to take the lead. In numerology, 9 symbolises endings and culminations—whatever is leaving your life now is karmic and destined to happen, so if you can feel your grip loosening, don’t be afraid to let go and surrender.
Venus Retrograde: 2nd March 12:37AM GMT
The anticipation continues to build. Venus goes retrograde in the early hours of March 2nd in the UK/Europe or late on March 1st in the U.S.
I read an astrology article yesterday claiming that no two Venus retrogrades are ever alike…hmm, that’s incorrect. This is why you can’t trust every ‘astrologer’ on Substack, nor social media for that matter—there’s people who like to talk about it for views because astrology is increasingly becoming a trending topic and then there’s people who actually live by it and are passionately dedicated to the study. As I mentioned in my previous article, Venus works in eight-year cycles, meaning this Venus retrograde will bring back themes from 2017 because Venus goes retrograde in the same sign every eight years so there will be a correlation to the past.
So, you know the drill—check your photos, calendar entries, and emails from March–April 2017. You’ll likely notice similar themes resurfacing during this retrograde period.
When Venus goes retrograde, she will move from Aries back into Pisces before shifting forward into Aries again. So, although the retrograde officially begins in March, since Venus has already traveled through Pisces to reach her current position in Aries, we can expect certain themes and storylines from late January through February to resurface when Venus moves back into Pisces. This is known as the shadow period—a time when a planet revisits the area of the sky it has already passed through.
To simplify: Venus retrograde officially runs from 1st/2nd March to 12th April, but when we factor in the pre- and post-shadow periods, the retrograde effect is already in motion and won’t fully subside until 16th May. After that, Venus will finally leave Aries and move into Taurus on 5th June. Because Venus will be moving between Aries and Pisces for nearly half the year, this transit is particularly significant. You can check where these signs fall in your birth chart to understand which areas of life will be impacted. As I mentioned, looking back at 2017 can provide insight—and if you want to go further, review March–April 2009 as well. Personally, I’ve already noticed how a situation from 2017 is playing out again in my life, only with different people. It can get trippy!
If you’re Venus-ruled (i.e., a Libra or Taurus), you’ll feel this transit the most—along with Pisces and Aries, since Venus will be retrograding through both signs. If you were born during a Venus retrograde and have this placement in your natal chart, you may have noticed that Venus retrograde periods tend to be particularly impactful for you.
In general, expect to reconnect with people from the past—you might even bump into someone you haven’t seen in a decade! Old relationships may resurface for reassessment. Venus governs our values, desires, and relationships—it relates to what we value and expect from others, so this retrograde isn’t always marked by dramatic events. Instead, it may be a time when the Universe nudges you to reflect on whether your personal values and relationship standards are still in alignment with who you are today and whether you have integrated necessary lessons from the past. This could mean enforcing stronger boundaries, raising your standards, and becoming more discerning about the company you keep.
I promised you a list of do’s and don’ts last week, so here they are—these are guidelines, but please do whatever feels best for your life circumstances.
Venus Retrograde Do’s:
✔ Reconnect with old friends and family.
✔ Reflect on your values and reassess what you will and won’t tolerate from others.
✔ Review March–April 2017 for recurring themes in your life.
✔ Redefine your boundaries to ensure they truly serve you.
✔ Revisit an old creative project if it resurfaces.
✔ Have fun! Venus retrogrades don’t have to be daunting. This is a great time to reconnect with things you love—whether it’s a favorite dish, a place you once traveled to, a sport, or an old hobby. Follow what makes you feel alive.
Venus Retrograde Don’ts:
✘ Don’t drop your boundaries or get back with an ex (unless you’re absolutely sure you want to—it could be a good time to reevaluate the relationship, but hold off on major commitments until after the retrograde).
✘ Don’t get a drastic new hairstyle or experiment with a bold new aesthetic.
✘ Don’t make large financial investments without reviewing all the details multiple times.
✘ Don’t go on a first date during the retrograde—if possible, postpone meeting someone new. You might change your mind once the retrograde is over.
Enjoy the rest of your week and see you in the midst of the madness in next week’s article!
As always your depth of knowledge astounds me. My memory is terrible so 2017 is vague 😂 I'm sure Venus will remind me! My ex is meant to be down on holiday in 2 weeks and I've not heard from him in months 🤔 I must try to remember all this great information (when I'm tearing my hair out next month 😂)
