The Next Big Transit of 2025: From Victimhood to Self-Mastery
Saturn in Aries: A New Era of Grit, Growth & Responsibility—What It Means for Your Sign
Hopefully you’ve been following along with my 2025 astrology timeline, and if you have, you’ll know that the next big transit is Saturn’s shift from Pisces into Aries.
Saturn in Aries asks: how are you showing up for yourself—not just boldly, but consistently? Where’s your discipline? This is about taking radical responsibility for your identity, your impulses, and your direction. It’s a wake-up call to stop starting and start finishing. You’re being challenged to build something lasting—out of raw drive, not fleeting adrenaline.
Before we dive into the rest of the article, I just want to thank all of you who took the time to leave words of support on my last post. Those kind messages meant more than you know, and I’m deeply grateful to every single one of you.
Saturn in Aries: 25th May 2025 BST
Saturn enters Aries this May and will remain there until 2028. However, it will briefly return to Pisces after the summer when it retrogrades:
Saturn in Aries: 25th May 2025 - 1st September 2025
Saturn retrograde back into Pisces: 1st September 2025 - 14th February 2026
Saturn re-enters Aries: 14th February 2026 - 12th April 2028
Valentine’s Day 2026 is going to be interesting lol.
Aries isn’t exactly Saturn’s favourite place to be. Saturn embodies the energy of the wise elder or father figure—a symbol of structure, discipline, and the rewards that come from consistency and long-term effort. Aries, on the other hand, is ruled by fiery Mars and thrives on instinct, urgency, and impulsive action. These two forces couldn’t be more different—one says ‘pause and plan’, while the other says ‘act now and figure it out later’. Needless to say, there’s tension in this pairing.
Saturn hasn’t been in Aries since 1996-1999, so anyone born during these years will be experiencing their Saturn Return.
Wherever Saturn goes, it asks us to grow up and mature—I spoke about how Saturn has been pushing us recently in my previous article. It wants us to set boundaries, commit to long-term goals, and face the uncomfortable truths we’d rather avoid. When Saturn enters Aries, the very first sign of the zodiac, a new collective cycle begins—one that’s focused on identity, independence, and self-mastery.
Aries energy is bold, instinctive, and impatient. It wants to act now and ask questions later. But Saturn doesn’t rush—it teaches us that real strength comes from restraint, not just action. Over the next few years, Saturn in Aries will challenge us to build a stronger sense of self—one rooted in authenticity, not ego. This may be a time where you’ll need to embark on a kind of hero’s journey—one of personal growth—before you gain clarity around your long-term goals. Saturn’s about to slow an area of your life down so you can learn to refine it.
Where Pisces may have led us to feel lost in hopelessness or to blame others for our struggles, Saturn in Aries will teach you to get over yourself—and your ego. If you don’t like something, change it. You don’t have to ‘win’ at something to enjoy it, and you don’t need to avoid it just because you’re afraid you won’t be the best. This is where the idea of self-mastery really comes into play—use Saturn’s energy to build (with discipline) a skill you want to master. I promise you, Saturn will reward your effort over time.
Not going to lie—Saturn transits can be tough, especially if it’s moving over your personal placements. You might feel more low than usual, or experience delays and increased pressure. But Saturn does this for a reason—to make you more self-disciplined, to prepare you for the sometimes harsh realities of life, and to help you handle them with greater strength. Saturn brings real rewards to those who do the work—so in the long run, it does pay off.
Saturn is also the planet of karma, so depending on your choices and actions, this transit can either be relatively smooth and rewarding, or more testing, with multiple lessons showing up until the message is clear. Saturn can deliver consequences or results, it depends on you.
What makes this particular Saturn in Aries transit unique is that Neptune is also in Aries. I spoke about Neptune in Aries in my guest podcast episode [link], and I’ll touch on it again as Saturn moves closer to Neptune. Essentially: any outdated ideals or fantasies you’ve been clinging to will start to dissolve.
This transit marks a turning point for everyone, but it will land differently depending on your sign. Cardinal signs (Aries, Libra, Cancer, Capricorn) will be affected most by this transit over the next 2.5 years. Below, you’ll find a breakdown of what Saturn in Aries means for each rising sign—and the area of life where you're being asked to grow up, get serious, and do the work.
Tip: Read for the sign before your rising sign to reflect on the area of life Saturn has been restructuring for you since March 2023.
Also, check out my article on how to read for your horoscope correctly. If you know where your Mars is located, it may also be helpful to read for that sign to gain additional context.
Aries Rising: Self-Discipline & Identity Redefinition
This is a powerful and personal Saturn transit for you. You're being asked to take responsibility for who you are, how you show up, and the energy you bring into every room. Old versions of yourself may feel like they're being stripped away—because they are. It's time to become the person you’ve always talked about becoming. The universe won’t let you bypass growth now. Be extra careful with health issues related to the head.
Taurus Rising: Inner Discipline & Healing
Saturn is inviting you to get serious about your mental, emotional, and spiritual hygiene. This may be a season of solitude, shadow work, or even confronting self-sabotaging patterns. Boundaries around your energy are essential now. Think of this as energetic spring cleaning—clearing out what’s no longer aligned so you can make space for peace.
Gemini Rising: Disciplined Dreams & Social Maturity
Your friendships, networks, and long-term goals are under Saturn’s microscope. You may be called to step into a leadership role within your community, or walk away from connections that no longer reflect who you’re becoming. This is a time to build your dreams brick by brick—slow progress is still progress.
Cancer Rising: Career Clarity & Public Responsibility
Your public image, career path, and sense of legacy are being restructured. Saturn wants you to define what success really means to you—and to earn it. Expect hard work, but also lasting results if you stay the course. You’re being prepared for long-term leadership.
Leo Rising: Wisdom Through Experience
This is your time to commit to your beliefs, deepen your worldview, or pursue serious study. Travel, education, or publishing could all come with responsibilities now—but with rewards too. Saturn wants you to think big, but with structure. Walk the walk.
Virgo Rising: Emotional Boundaries & Intimacy Lessons
You’re being asked to face fears around vulnerability, control, and shared resources. This is about developing resilience through emotional maturity. Debt (emotional or financial) may come up to be cleared. Saturn here can feel intense, but it’s also deeply transformational.
Libra Rising: Relationship Responsibility
Partnerships are under Saturn’s serious lens now. You may be committing more deeply (engagement, marriage, moving in together) or letting go of relationships that no longer serve your growth. If you have multiple ‘situationships’, watch Saturn rid them. This is about maturity in how you relate—not just romantically, but in all one-to-one dynamics. Healthy boundaries are essential.
Scorpio Rising: Work Ethic & Wellness
It’s time to streamline your daily life—from your job to your health. If you’ve been dealing with a long-term health issue, you will now confront it. Saturn asks you to get serious about routines, discipline, and the boring but necessary foundations that support your bigger goals. Burnout is the enemy now—efficiency is your friend.
Sagittarius Rising: Commitment to Creativity & ‘Serious Joy’
This transit wants you to take your joy seriously—yes, seriously. What creative projects are you ready to invest in long term? Themes around children, romance, or passion pursuits may feel heavier, but this is a chance to build something meaningful. As far as Saturn is concerned, real fun has structure.
Capricorn Rising: Rooted Responsibility
Saturn is anchoring into your foundations—your home, family, and sense of belonging. You may be called to care for elders, restructure your living space, or confront generational karmic patterns. This is about emotional security that stands the test of time.
Aquarius Rising: Serious Self-Expression
Your voice matters—but Saturn wants you to use it wisely. Expect a restructuring of how you think, communicate, and share ideas. This could be a powerful time to write, teach, or study something deeply. Siblings or neighbors may require your support now too.
Pisces Rising: Financial Discipline & Self-Worth
It’s time to build a more solid relationship with your money, your values, and your self-worth. Saturn wants you to get clear about what you really value—and to create structures that support it. Think sustainability, not scarcity.
Saturn in Aries doesn’t coddle you, but it does champion your growth. Wherever this falls in your chart, know that you’re being shaped into a stronger, more self-actualised version of yourself. Let discomfort be the sign that you're on the right track, after all, change is uncomfortable.
Yeah I was born at night. And I'll be checking my Aries, thank you!
I honestly hadn't really focused on the concept of Saturn Return until it started to pop up more frequently in astrology related things coming to me. So I just looked mines up hwcause I thought, surely I should prepare as everyone says it puts you through the ringer. But apparently I've been in it? It actually ends soon? And then I'll have a second one when Saturn retrograde to Pisces in Halloween lmaooo. Idk I feel like my Saturn Return really helped me and not painfully either. So I guess now it'll be interesting to see what Aries will do. Would it also help to check Aries chart placements? Excellent work as always!
