I knew 2025 was going to be a challenging year, but predicting it and experiencing it are two different things. Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve found myself re-reading my two-part article on the astrology of 2025. I’ll link those at the end of this article in case you’d like to do the same—it’s been helpful to remind myself that no matter how difficult things may feel in this moment, time keeps ticking, planets keep transiting, life continues to move. As the proverb goes: time and tide wait for no man.
Time is a funny thing.
I’ve been contemplating the concept of time a lot recently. I know that’s the whole point of being an astrologer—studying time—but as someone who suffers from anxiety (and chronic overthinking), I often find myself feeling guilty for not being ‘productive enough’ with the 24 hours in a day. Part of that is a product of the capitalist society we live in, but another part comes from this deep fear of wasting time or taking it for granted—a fear of not fulfilling full potential. This is where elemental balance—or imbalance—comes into play. I’m heavy air and water energy, meaning: emotional [over]analysis without much forward action. Tricky to navigate during times of great change, like this year.
The past week has felt confusing, trying to pick up the pieces of what occurred during the end of April. If you read my article about April’s most karmic week, you’ll know why it was so tough and explosive.
Here’s a few takeaways from that piece that I think are important to highlight before moving on with the rest of this article:
“you're being asked to mature and take responsibility for your choices, your dreams, and your future. This week may highlight where you’ve been too dependent on others and where you now need to step up”
“you’ll either be experiencing a breakdown or a breakthrough”
“beginnings don’t come without endings.”
“It’s time to get serious about what you really want in your life”
“if you genuinely want a new beginning, this week is your chance”
“with both the Sun and Saturn in challenging positions, keep an eye on the health of your parents or grandparents—especially father figures. Saturn represents the elderly and the Sun represents authority figures, including father or grandfather.”
I’d like to first point your attention to the last bullet quote.
If you’re following me on Instagram, [hopefully] you will have seen my last carousel post which included the below screenshot from Justin Biebers account:
And unfortunately he wasn’t the only one. As I predicted, Saturn and the Sun in challenging positions brought major health threats to elders—specifically male—and considering Pluto (the planet of death and transformation) was also in focus, this pointed to potential threats to life.
Sadly, I experienced this firsthand.
My beloved grandfather passed away not long after I wrote that article. And even though I knew the possibility existed, given the astrology, I still held out hope.
Astrology can be both a blessing and a curse at times like these.
For those who have been following me for a while, you may remember the article I wrote about my grandmother who passed only five months ago. I haven’t re-read that piece since I wrote it—it was something I wrote cathartically, in the moment, to release emotions and help me move through the grieving process into slow acceptance.
But in preparation for this article, I decided to revisit it—and I completely surprised myself when I did.
Here are three reasons why.
I knew the title of this article before writing anything, and that wasn’t going to change no matter how the piece evolved. But the subheading came to me because of the full moon in Scorpio happening tomorrow, which brings themes of the death and rebirth cycle.
Cut to me opening the article about my grandmother—and the title? Death and Rebirth, with the subheading Time waits for no man. Chills. I had honestly forgotten that’s what I had titled it.
“Time waits for no man” is something my grandfather always said to me—and in my mind, it’s as if he came up with that proverb. I’ve heard it from him since childhood. He always encouraged me to live life to the fullest because, in his words, “none of us know when our last chapter is.”
At the time of my grandmother’s passing, we experienced a full moon in Taurus. Now, during my grandfather’s passing, we are under the energy of the full moon in Scorpio—Taurus’ sister sign. He is also a Taurus Sun. The Taurus/Scorpio axis is the axis of life and death.
I realised that during my grandmother’s passing, Pluto was entering Aquarius—signifying the end of an era. Fast-forward to now, and Pluto has just gone retrograde, bringing back themes from November 2024. For me, that theme is clearly my grandparents' health.
There’s been strong Saturnian energy at play in both cases. Saturn is the planet of old structures and the elderly. It’s about to end its stay in Pisces, the last sign of the zodiac (symbolising endings). When my grandmother passed, Pluto—planet of death and transformation—was ending its stay in Capricorn, a sign ruled by Saturn.
At first, I was unsure about sharing astrological context around their passing, but then I thought: what better way to show the cyclical nature of astrology, spirituality, and life than through something so completely out of our control? Always pay attention to the cycles in your life—astrology is all about patterns designed by nature.
If you did get the chance to read my article about April’s most karmic week, I warned that Saturn would push us in some way.
I mentioned how Saturn was going to show you, at the beginning of May, where you need to step up and take more responsibility. For me, Saturn is forcing me to realise that I’m not as young as I thought I was and time is slipping away. Saturn is so sobering sometimes, and I’m realising how that’s applying to my life now that I’ve experienced a personal end of an era.
My boss told me a great analogy his mother used: “Family is like the army. Every generation represents a line of soldiers, and as one generation passes, you get closer to the frontline.” Terrifying—but true. I’ve found myself closer to the frontline, and suddenly, my bubble has burst. I feel unprepared. Remember that quote from earlier? “You're being asked to mature and take responsibility for your choices, your dreams, and your future.” That’s Saturn in full force.
“You’ll either be experiencing a breakdown or a breakthrough”—another quote I pulled—and safe to say, I’ve experienced multiple breakdowns these past weeks. During some of them, I’ve realised how no one prepares you for the unexpected heaviness of your mid-30s: the sinking feeling of watching your parents age, or realising life doesn’t look the way you thought it would. I could—and probably should—write an entire article on that. Lately, my mind has been spinning with thoughts about maturity, planning, finances, relationships—Saturn really is a hard taskmaster.
But as an astrologer, I know Saturn ultimately wants the best for us. It puts pressure on you to force better structures in your life—to improve your life.
“Time and tide wait for no man”—and Saturn rules time.
Full Moon in Scorpio 12th May
Sometimes I cringe at getting too personal in my writing, but there are moments when it’s necessary. This full moon in Scorpio is definitely one of those moments—it's a time to release emotions and personal truths.
This full moon will affect Scorpios, Taureans, Aquarians, and Leos the most, but its energy will show up in some area of your life regardless of your sign. This is a time for deep introspection, you need to confront what you’ve been running away from. You may find that you’re at a crossroads facing a head vs. heart decision. This lunation wants you to choose.
Full moons highlight and illuminate. They bring closure or culmination—like finally completing a project or facing something you’ve avoided.
Scorpio is a water sign known for mystery and emotional depth. It’s linked to possession and control, opposing Taurus (the sign of value and ownership). In its highest expression, Scorpios are so emotionally intelligent and dialed in to the energy of those around them. They can give the best advice and help transform pain into power—alchemists. In its lowest expression, Scorpios can hide the truth or manipulate it, not wanting anyone to get too close to see their insecurities, especially their fear of scarcity. They want to possess or ‘own’ you, whether that’s owning your time, your emotions, your thoughts or your finances—it’s all about power play, they want you under their control.
So what does this all mean for the full moon tomorrow?
Buried emotions will surface. You may no longer be able to suppress your feelings—or your opinions of others. If you’ve been shrinking yourself to make others comfortable, this moon gives you the courage to stop.
Scorpio is about power. Where do you feel powerful? Where do you give your power away?
When I say power, I also mean worth. This moon is asking you to stop second-guessing yourself. Own your skills, your talents, your voice. Take yourself seriously.
Scorpio also rules wealth and material resources—money, inheritance, financial structures—so these themes may come up now.
Above all, Scorpio is about transformation. If there’s something you want to change—your health, career, mindset—this is your chance. It doesn’t have to be drastic, small change over time is very effective, but this moon gives you the energetic power to begin.
Scorpio also governs sexuality and reproductive health. You may receive unexpected news—anything from breakthroughs in long-term health conditions to surprise pregnancies.
Uranus, the planet of shock and sudden events, is sitting opposite the full moon, which is going to make things a little more challenging. Secrets, surprises or shocking news could feature heavily. With Mercury in tough aspect to Pluto, be careful of what you say…words have consequences. Emotions will be running high during this period, I’d always encourage you to speak your truth, but do it consciously.
Scorpio is the sign of transformation, death and rebirth. That could mean in a literal sense in the way it’s applied to me, or it can be metaphorical—I hope the latter for you. Scorpio teaches us to release in order to rebuild, so this full moon, I’d really encourage you to purge. Eat healthily, don’t overload your body with any unnecessary toxins. Let go of old items that you don’t need anymore, Feng Shui your living space, clear out stagnant energy. Gifts from your exes need to go—give it to a friend if you don’t want to throw it away but don’t keep it in your space, it’s emotionally and spiritually holding you back.
Overall, this is an intense lunation period. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself, take each day as it comes and know that the astrology is working for you not against you.
This full moon is your opportunity to release tension, emotional baggage, and grief. Shed your old skin—we are, after all, in the Year of the Snake.
For me, this full moon has brought one of my greatest fears to the surface. I’ll be using this Scorpio energy to move through my grieving process and turn the pain into power. After all, he showed me how you can start from nothing and make something of yourself—create a family, create a community, create a legacy.
My grandfather came to the UK with a few shillings and a dream. Starting as a bus driver, he and my grandmother worked tirelessly to build a better life. But beyond his work ethic, it was his values that shaped me. A compassionate and empathetic man who stood for justice, he helped other immigrant workers find their feet and learn their rights, going on to lead a union for workers rights. He joined anti-racism marches, spoke at protests and always encouraged others to do the right thing—he’d tell me, "God gave you a voice for a reason — you should use it." Growing up I watched him speak at community centres and was in constant awe of him—he was my role model. His values are the ones I’ve built my own character on and everything I am is because of him. If I can achieve even half of what he was able to, I’ll know I did something right.
I’ve always said that with OTHERWORLDLY, my purpose is to help others—and that purpose stems from him. He was, and always will be, the reason I feel so deeply called to create a safe and inclusive community. He cared so much for his own community and always made sure to bring others along with him.
This week, I’ve come to realise just how much his influence shaped me on a subconscious level as I was growing up, guiding me into the person I am today. I’m very much a student of life because of him.
I’m so grateful to have known you, and I’m endlessly proud to be your granddaughter.
Thank you, Universe, for aligning us in this lifetime. I’ll see you again in the next one…
